Antes del partido, Racing ya había ganado su partido y obligaba a Central a conseguir los tres puntos si quería al menos soñar con un desempate. La única chance para que los de Madelón no jueguen la promo: que Racing pierda sus dos partidos y Central gane los suyos para que llegar a un desempate con el equipo de Avellaneda.
